South Goa is a part of Goa that doesn’t often see the average tourist visit, as compared to North Goa, from Panjim to Arambol, and the extreme sections of southern Goa, like Patnem and Palolem. But there are advantages to visiting South Goa, as you find great architecture, vast green expanses and beautiful beaches. Food and beverage establishments are in abundance too! Here’s a list of the some of the best restaurants in south Goa.
Jaali, Patnem
Jaali is a gorgeous outdoor restaurant and boutique in Patnem near the beaches of Palolem and Agonda. The well designed al fresco area is a great place to rest and relax. Their Mediterranean fare and breakfasts are fresh and delicious, and beautifully presented.

Palacio de Deao, Quepem

Want a taste of luxury and dining in a Goan heritage mansion? This quaint house in a small town called Quepem, is an 18th century mansion. It is the perfect place to try some authentic Goan-Portuguese cuisine with a hint of nature surrounding it. The owner Reuben and his wife take great pains to serve delicious food. One should definitely try the Pork Pie and Fish & Prawn Curry, which will tingle your taste buds. And don’t forget to try their Kokam Feni. Overall, it is definitely worth visiting Palacio de Deao for an unforgettable Goan-Portuguese experience at one of South Goa’s best restaurants.
Wild West, Curchorem

An idyllic, serene restaurant located in the extreme south in the village Curchorem. It is a garden restaurant, enveloped by greenery and provides a calm, relaxing ambience. It’s mostly recommended for a family dining though it gets a huge variety of customers from across India. They put forward a great variety of fish, which is their specialty. One should definitely try their Crumbed Chicken, Chicken Cafreal, Chicken Sukha, Chicken Tawa Fry and Mutton Sukha. And while they have a sparse vegetarian menu, dishes like Veg. Crispy, Veg. Cafreal, Veg Xacuti have a huge fan following.
Joe’s River Cove, Cavelossim

An alluring restaurant situated against the backdrop of majestic mangroves and the serene river Sal. This remote restaurant in Cavelossim provides a very warm and casual experience to their customers. Although it has crammed in a multi-cuisine menu to suit all tastes, it’s the Goan starters and Indian preparations that will have your taste buds craving for more. The Batter Fried Squid, the Masala Rawa Fried Mussels and Mushrooms Stuffed with Cheese and Spinach, would be our recommendations. The Banoffie Pie will satisfy your sweet tooth. This is a great place for foodies and families.
Cherry Tomato, Margao

This little café is relatively new, compared to the original café in Colva, which has now been renovated. Cherry Tomato is considered one of the best cafés in South Goa, with great music and free wi-fi. Visit either for an amazing experience. Order the Boozy Banana Shake as a starter from their well-stocked bar, and the Cubano Pulled Pork Sandwich as a follow-up. You’ll also need to try out their Zombie Burger… hands down the best burger in South Goa!
